The Tokyo Big Sight Inc. has become the stage for a new exhibition: "Special Equipment Exhibition & Conference for Anti-Terrorism, SEECAT". It has been set up because of a realization of the importance and urgency of Anti-Terrorism within Japan, and with the object of further promoting such countermeasures. It is a joint project with the Security &Safety Trade Expo, RISCON TOKYO.

At present, Japanese industry has become the global leader in the number of cars produced etc., and Japan's role in the world economy has expanded. Japan is progressing actively in promoting international events such as the first international Expo of the 21st century, Expo 2005 at Aichi, followed by the international summit scheduled for Hokkaido in 2008, and the decision to make a bid to hold the Olympic Games in Tokyo in 2016. As a consequence, security issues in Japan have risen to another level of importance.

Based on this, since 2005 we have been holding RISCON TOKYO which has gathered together products and services in the Security, Safety and Risk & Crisis management fields. In October of this year, for the third time we are continuing the development of this as a Risk & Crisis management coordinated trade show. Within the RISCON TOKYO we are positioning equipment and technologies related to terrorism countermeasures as an important exhibition field. However, a request was received from numbers of exhibitors about products that are bought by only some groups of purchasers related to public security. They asked that the products should not be shown to anyone but should be limited to visitors who are potential customers with the aim of substantial PR. Also, various government ministries and agencies attending advised us that they would like a quiet place where they could make a careful inspection of the highly classified content, free from a busy crowd. We felt that it was essential to fulfill both requests and therefore we decided to hold "SEECAT" as a special unified project. The exhibition shows special equipment for concerned parties.

This SEECAT is the first exhibition specialized in counterterrorism equipment and information within Japan and is also limited to attendees with valid interest. As a result, focused PR and information exchange not seen at other exhibitions can be achieved. It is intended to attract the following people to the exhibition: responsible people from the various ministries and agencies concerned; Chief Security Officers (CSO) in agencies and enterprises that require terrorism countermeasures such as lifeline enterprises (energy, transport, etc.) and those connected with amusement facilities and other facilities where large numbers of people gather.
